CLR Completes Alloa Base Development to Power Central Belt Growth

CLR, one of Scotland's largest independentcatering, laundry and refrigeration service, repair and installation companies, has now fully opened its new centralScotland base in Alloa, marking a major step in the company’s national expansion strategy. The site has undergone a complete renovation to house bothhigh-spec office space and a custom-built engineering workshop that will serve clients from coast to coast.

This facility cements CLR’s presence in the region and underlines its long-term investment in people, training, and infrastructure. It follows the earlier announcement of new engineering and business development roles created to support the expansion.

The Alloa workshop has been designed to meet the growing technical demands of the industry. It includes a purpose-built ventilation system for all gas and electrical appliances — a critical asset that enables engineers to test equipment under real conditions, support cross-training for multi-skilled engineering roles, and help apprentices achieve their Gas Safe qualifications. The canopy also opens opportunities for on-site cooking demonstrations for clients.

Matthew McKenzie, managing director, says,

“This investment is more than bricks and mortar. It’s aboutfuture-proofing our workforce and delivering a consistently high standard ofservice across Scotland. The Alloa base enables us to operate more efficiently acrosscentral Scotland while also strengthening our training offer so our engineerscan continue to lead the field in technical competence and safety.”

The Alloa site will act as a training hub, embedding CLR’s commitment to continuous professional development. Apprentices and experienced engineers will train side by side — gaining multi-disciplinary skills across catering, laundry, and refrigeration, aligned with CLR’s model of cross-functional engineering teams.

The base also reinforces CLR’s ambition to support local employment in areas facing economic challenge. Alloa, which has one of the lowest job densities in Scotland, will now benefit from long-term skilled roles in an industry with strong growth potential.

A new business development manager- Billy Menzies – has been recruitedto support he business expansion not only across central Scotland butScotland-wide. Billy is based in the new Alloa office. Recruitment forengineers is ongoing with CLR’s focus on looking for more than technicalability to join a highly skilled team to represent the CLR brand values.

The Alloa office connects seamlessly with CLR’s wider footprint acrossAberdeen, Elgin and Inverness From this position of national coverage, CLR willcontinue to support clients across hospitality, healthcare, education, retail, manufacturing, and the public sector—providing 24/7 support.
